How It Works
During Class
Students write notes, as they normally would, in their inq notebook while the inq app records the lecture in the background.
There’s no need to keep up with every word; sparse notes are completely fine.
The smartpen and app automatically sync handwriting to the audio, so every mark on the page is linked to its exact moment in the class.
After Class
When the class ends, students receive:
- A full transcript of the recorded audio
- A digital transcription of their handwritten notes
This gives students multiple ways to access the material, supporting a wide range of learning challenges including dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and auditory processing difficulties.
Review & Study
Students simply tap any word or stroke in their digital notes to replay the precise moment in the lecture when that note was written.
The app’s AI tools help them organize, summarize, tag, and navigate their notes, allowing them to review at their own pace and build deeper understanding.
Everything syncs across devices, making it easy for students to study independently and stay engaged without relying on peer note-takers.
What Makes inq Different?
- Dual capture of handwriting and audio: The pen synchronizes handwritten notes with lecture audio (captured on a paired smart device), enabling students to revisit exactly what was said when notes were taken.
- Enhanced learning and retention: Combining audio and handwriting helps students with a wide range of learning challenges including dyslexia, ADHD, dysgraphia, auditory processing disorders, and dyscalculia, to better understand and retain information.
- Student independence: By providing robust digital tools, inq encourages students to take ownership of their note-taking and learning processes without overburdening Disability Offices.
- Access anywhere: Notes and audio sync across devices (smartphone, tablet, desktop), ensuring students can access and study their materials anytime, anywhere.
